China’s Mass Detention of Tibetans Over Objection to Mining Activity Latest reports of China’s detention of around 80 Tibetans early November, 2025 have emerged. In Kashi village of Sershul Dzachuka or Serchul County in eastern Tibet, 80 Tibetans were detained over objection to the Chinese government led mining activity in their pasturelands. Out of those 80, whereabouts of 7 still remains unknown. Tempa Gyaltsen Zamlha, Deputy Director at Tibet Policy Institute, Central Tibetan Administration speaks on this tension that continues to escalate in Kashi village and on the grave implications of China’s exploitation of Tibet’s ecosystem.
