A bipartisan spending bill allocates about $653 million to the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which oversees VOA, including nearly $10 million for capital improvements. Although the funding is lower than the $867 million approved in each of the past two years, it far exceeds the $153 million requested by the Trump administration to support an “orderly shutdown” of the agency. The funding is part of a broader bipartisan budget deal that still requires approval from both the House and Senate before being sent to the president.
