CTA holds prayer ceremony at Tsuglhakhang temple in memory of Dingri, Shigatse earthquake victims
The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) organised a public prayer ceremony today at the Main Temple in Dharamshala to honour the victims of the recent earthquake in Dingri, Shigatse. The event was attended by CTA officials and local residents.
Addressing the media, CTA President Penpa Tsering urged international outlets to use “Tibet” in their coverage instead of “Xizang.” He emphasised that using the Chinese term not only distorts the region’s identity but also carries significant geopolitical implications regarding the true expanse of Tibet. “We appeal to the international community to not to fall into the trap of Chinese propaganda by using Chinese names for Tibetan places,” President Tsering stated.
