Following his release after a seven-year prison term, Tibetan environmental activist Anyak Sengdra is reportedly suffering from severe kidney disease and failing eyesight. The 55-year-old anti-corruption advocate returned to Kyangche Township on February 7, but sources indicate his health has critically deteriorated with no confirmed medical access. Despite his release, authorities have placed him under strict surveillance, restricting his movements and forbidding family members from sharing photographs. Sengdra was originally jailed for his work with the grassroots group "Mangdon Leng" exposing illegal mining and local corruption.
